AGMA 8 COMP, ISO VG 680 | Gear Lube | Compounded

Gear lubricants that are "compounded" are designed to achieve superior lubrication in steam engine cylinders and worm gear drives operating at high temperatures. Low-speed bearings that are exposed to heavy loads may also benefit from the implementation of these oils. These oils are derived from the finest, high-paraffin-content petroleum stocks and blended with additives that increase the performance characteristics of these gear lubricants. In addition to gear sets, these oils may alo be implemented as lubricants for screws, bolts, gas compressor cylinders, and in situations where an API GL-2 oil is specified.

ISO VG 680 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 680 mm2/s, also referred to as centistokes (cSt). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities of these oils, which is taken into account by the AGMA testing method. For AGMA 8 oils, these numbers are 612 cSt and 748 cSt, respectively.
