AGMA 7 S, ISO VG 460 | Gear Lube | Synthetic

Gear drives and gearboxes operate at high temperatures and in intense conditions that can expose these components and their respective lubricants to high pressures and moisture. AGMA 7 S ISO VG 460 Synthetic Gear Lube is designed to withstand the conditions of these gearboxes - however, these oils may not be applicable for gearboxes calling for a gear lube containing EP additives. Synthetic gear lubes, however, are high-performance oils that can exhibit some extreme-pressure characteristics without actually containing any of the sometimes wear-inducing, Sulphur-laden additive. These oils protect gear drives and provide high film strengths which contribute to the minimization of wear and extended systems life.

ISO VG 460 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 460 cSt (centistokes). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities which is accounted for by the AGMA designation. The maximum and minimum kinematic viscosity of an AGMA 7 oil is 506 mPa.s and 414 mPa.S, respectively. Averaging these two quantities together, the result is equivalent to the midpoint kinematic viscosity measured in the ISO VG testing mechanism.
