AGMA 4 S, ISO VG 150 | Gear Lube | Synthetic

Description

Gearboxes require some of the strongest and well-performing lubricants of any industrial machine or machine component. Due to the high temperatures and pressures that are reached within these components, many of them require lubricants that can handle extremely heavy loads. Some of these synthetic lubricants may be applicable for use in extreme pressure situations - if these oils do not contain the EP additive, they still may be capable of withstanding these great pressures and temperatures due to the high performance characteristics of synthetic formulations. Additionally, most synthetic lubricants are safe for use in gearboxes that may contain yellow metals.

ISO VG 150 oil has a midpoint kinematic viscosity of 150 mm2/s, also referred to as centistokes (cSt). The midpoint is derived by taking the average of both the minimum and maximum kinematic viscosities. In the case of ISO VG 150 oil, those numbers are 135 cSt and 165 cSt, respectively. AGMA 4 lubricants have a minimum viscosity of 135 mPa.s and a maximum viscosity of 165 mPa.s. These numbers refer to the standard testing mechanisms used to determine how much resistance to flow (i.e. viscosity) these oils demonstrate.
